Your TL;DR lifestory: What did you do before Berlin and how did you end up here?

Product came into focus in my final year of Mechanical engineering, with Apple’s iPod with click wheel. It got me interested in the dynamics, economics, and power of intuitive product design and iterative product development.

India doesn’t have many hardware product shops. Service economy. I had a knack for coding since high school — I came in 3rd place at an Asia-level competition in C++ programming. So I joined a software product startup, self learnt web tech and RoR, and took DoAttend (an online event registration service) from concept to profitability in about 4 years. I also launched InvoicingApp, which provides basic invoicing for freelancers. It’s still free and in perpetual beta.

Eventually I moved on to do an MBA at ESADE in Barcelona so that I could get international exposure and learn business disciplines. I got to do an exchange semester at Haas School of Business, in UC Berkeley. After that I ended up in Berlin, because it’s a natural fit for my background and skills.

If you weren’t allowed to do your current career choice, what would you be doing?

  • Software Engineer, OR
  • Coach for a team sport, OR
  • Professional hippie

Best way to spend a Sunday in Berlin, when all the shops are closed?

Summer: Brunch, parks, books, boats, friends.
Winter: Gym, sauna, books, friends, movies.

What purchase under 100€ has most positively impacted your life, and how?

Pretty much every book I’ve bought that was under 100€.

If there was a soundtrack to your life thus far, name one song that would be on it:

“Ho Hey,” The Lumineers

And last but not least, why did you choose Klunkerkranich for these photos?

It’s a fun place that’s close to home, has a great view, and embodies the Berlin spirit. I have good memories there with friends I made in Berlin, and also friends who visited me in Berlin.
